• Dennis Friedel's great Hints to get Solaris 2.4 x86 working with PPP.
• SunServices' PPP Tip Sheet. If you're having trouble with Windows 95 connections to your Solaris 2.3, 2.4, or x86 2.4 PPP, this document also tells you what Sun PPP patches you need.

• Solaris x86 2.5 outbound PPP dialup with dynamic IP address allocation instructions by Stephan Doliov (doliov@statsol.com).

• RFC1331:The Point-to-Point (PPP) Protocol RFC
• TIA, the Internet access utility to convert ISP shell accounts into a pseudo-SLIP/PPP account "the same way an electrical adapter convers a two-prong outlet into a three-prong outlet".
• SLiRP is a free TCP/IP emulator over the (C)SLIP/PPP link-level protocols which allows a normal user with a shell account on a UNIX system to act like a real (C)SLIP/PPP account. It lets you use programs like Netscape, Mosaic, FTP, etc. from your home machine with only a shell account.
• Public Domain PPP:
• dp versions for Solaris 2.x and SunOS 4.x are available at http://www.acn.purdue.edu/dp/dp.html.
• ppp-2.2 from Paul Mackerras (paulus@cs.anu.edu.au) of Australian National University. This free software source code is implemented using STREAMS modules on Solaris 2.x, SunOS 4.x, AIX 4.1 and OSF/1, and as a line discipline under Ultrix, NeXT, NetBSD, FreeBSD, and Linux. It accepts dynamic IP address allocation from your ISP, but has only limited support for your machine assigning dynamic IP addresses to machines dialing in. Many different OSs supported. Supports packet compression. There is very good info for the NeXT port of ppp-2.2 that may be useful to Unix sysadms. Stokely Consulting has received a lot of mail from sysadms saying that this PPP is easy to set up and runs well.
• Commercial PPP:
• Progressive Systems, Inc (formerly Morningstar Technologies) , 3518 Riverside Drive, Suite 101 Columbus OH USA 43221 / Voice: 800-558-7827 / FAX: 614-459-5054. Morningstar/Progressive Systems PPP release 1.4.1.7 will support Solaris 2.5. It is scheduled for release in Mid-August.
• Solstice PPP 3.0.1 for Solaris 2.4 and up, Sparc and X86, available from SunExpress.

• C-SLIP 2.7, available via anonymous ftp from ftp://ftp.ee.lbl.gov (202KB).
