RE: [s-x86] More kernel warnings.. bizarre..
Ok.. so to follow up my own post...
It would appear that the message I'm getting re: rmap overflow happens when
a find across a directory which has a very large number of files in it
(acutally, it's a directory tree with 100 dirs in it, each has 100 dirs
inside, and inside each one of those there are 10-20 files)
So it sounds like some kind of buffer is overflowing - perhaps some inode
cache?
Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be able to make some tweaks, or
where I might be able to look for reference on how to deal with this issue?
Thanks,

Subject: [s-x86] More kernel warnings.. bizarre..
Hi,
On Friday night one of my x86 boxes (Dell Poweredge 6300)started complaining
at about 4am with the following message:
WARNING: kernel map: rmap overflow, lost [34107, 34108]
It would spew out 50-60 instances of this message with differening numbers,
all in the same one second period and that was it.
It has done it at around the same time each night since.. and I cannot
figure out what the cause might be.
I rebooted it yesterday, but it did it again last night. (also at around
4am)
Strangely enough another x86 box (although it's still a Dell Poweredge 6300)
did the same thing last night at about 11:30pm.. this machine is in a
completely different location on a different network)
Does anyone have any ideas which part of the kernel is responsible for
sending this message so I even have a place to start looking for answers?
I'm not even sure what the message means... what is an rmap ?
Thanks,
