Hello,
I am attempting to
install Solaris 8 onto a Dell Optiplex.
I have placed the
downloaded installation image on a CD
and have downloaded
the boot image and copied it onto a
floppy with
dd.
With the floppy and
CD in place, I boot the computer to the
floppy and the
installation starts. After it successfully recognizes
the hardware it
appears to attempt to boot but I get an error message
as
follows:
Unable to mount a
Solaris root file system from device
Does anyone have an
idea what this message is telling me.
I assume that when I
am asked from which device to boot to
I should select the
CD and not the hard drive? But am unsure.
Any help would be
appreciated.
Regards,
Chris
Hax
PS: Is it
critical that the file name on the install CD have an "iso"
extension?
