[s-x86] Installation failure

Some colleagues have been trying to install Sol8 01/01 onto an old
system we have here without success. Its a Tyan Titan Pro 1668ATX mobo
with a Adaptect 29402UW and a Mylex 960 DAC RAID controller.

We can boot off a SCSI CD-ROM. The DCA process functions correctly and
IDs the hardware. We are asked about the type of install (solaris
Interactive). The kernel is then loaded, the kernel banner appears and
then the display whites out and things go no further.

How can I find out what is going wrong with the boot process at this
point? What diagnostics are available?
