Re: [s-x86] bad PBR Sig: Summary
Thanks for your responses.
In this case, the root partition somehow got trashed. Many missing files
and directories. May have saved some if I had been more diligent with fsck.
This system is a dual PIII HP using a Server Logic (??) motherboard. SCSI
Controller was the on-board LSI Logic controller.
When re-installing Solaris, I had to disable ACPI in the boot disk since it
is not a BIOS option. Added the following to <drive>/solari/bootenv.rc
setprop acpi-user-options 0x2
Boot from the DCA floppy, install the LSI driver, and then load the
Solaris CD. Interesting.

PBR means Partition Boot Record, ie the first sector of a partition.
Either:
(1) there is no pboot/bootblk installed on the Solaris partition, or
(2) Solaris partition is not on the boot drive.
To solve (1) use installboot. To solve (2) change boot sequence
in BIOS.
Anyways, have you tried to use DCA disk (floppy or cd) to boot
this Solaris partition?

And Phillip Bruce:
Goto http://multiboot.solaris-x86.org/ web site.
He also has an explaination on the PBR Sig on there. Good
